Happy Birthday to Alyssa Aisya

My dear sweet stepdaughter is all grown up now. When I first saw her she was just about 8 - 9 years old, and so adorable.
She celebrated her 15th birthday yesterday and well, she still is adorable, and looked so gorgeous, and matured. Here are some pics...
Happy birthday sweetie.. You are loved. You have your own mother whom I have no intention of replacing as she is a great woman and also a wonderful and loving mom to you, but know that I love you just as much as my own children too. I wish for you all the happiness, success, love, good health and luck life brings. I am always here if you need anything.

The birthday cake.. rich chocolate... very yummy...

Some of the food served - all home made.. fried rice, beef rendang, mix vegetables, spicy red chicken, orange cordial, creme caramel, another local dessert (lompat tikam - made of glutinous rice, coconut milk and brown sugar) and papaya

The gorgeous birthday girl, looking so grown up in her lovely dress. Her birthday theme was "grey" so naturally, the dress is grey..

The birthday girl, her brother (my step son), her mom and her dad (my husband)

Rest In Peace Michael Jackson

I was online the day they announce Michael Jackson was dead. I was online the Superpoke Pets on the Forum pages where I read about Farah Fawcett's death. Then someone mention Michael Jackson was in a coma and not breathing and soon enough, that he died.
He was a child who never grew up I think, very much like Peter Pan or at least he thought himself as one. He was talented, maybe a little strange to people, insecured about how he looked and wanting to be so much more. He became a legend.
Everyone born in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's grew up on his music and stories. My personal favourite was The Man in The Mirror, Black and White, Thriller, Billie Jean and Heal The World.
No one thought he would die so soon. I thought Patrick Swayze who was so ill from battling cancer would go first. I mean, look how haggard and pale he is nowadays, from the disease.(Not that I want him dead....)
Anyway, Rest In Peace, Michael Jackson and also the lovely 1/3 of Charlie's Angels, Farah Fawcett....

Kitty- Jack the Ripper....

There is a kitty Jack the Ripper somewhere in my neighbourhood. Yesterday was the worse day of this month or this year, having to be confronted by two kitten's grisly death!!! I thought one decapitated kitty was bad enough until I came across another (this time) disemboweled kitty, with it's intestines spilling out. Gross

Can someone send the Scotland Yard kitty to come and get this horrible killer leaving dead kittens all over my front porch???!!!!

My neighbour's son who loves catching rats, snakes and all was also definitely disgusted by the grisly sight. But who won't??? I nearly lost my lunch over that!!!!

Euwwwwwww................... Fortunately, I told my husband, the mother cat only had two kittens , now murdered. Poor mother was searching all over for her lost kitty last night.... So sad...

A dead body..

Horrors.. My youngest daughter was traumatised this morning and within good reason. She went to our front door, looked out and saw a dead body!! And not only was it dead.. It was decapitated and so grisly and to make things worse, it was one of the little kittens born recently to one of our many cats living in our backyard and porch. And one she adopted and called Ariel.
She came to me crying and sobbing. I was surprised until I saw what she saw and gawd.. It was grisly.. The poor kitten, which I estimate to be a week or so old was lying on our rubber mat right in front of our door, like a sacrifice.. Her head was torn off, a little paw a short distance away, an arm nearby and her body with it's innards spilling out.. Gross..
Definitely not for a little girl's eyes.
Anyway, my husband and I had to set about comforting her for a little while. But I hope I won't have another grisly discovery like the one this morning.. Eeuww

To All those Born in the 40's, 50's , 60's & early '70s...

To All those Born in the 40's, 50's , 60's & early '70s...

First, we survived with mothers who had no maids. They cooked /cleaned while taking care of us at the same time.
They took aspirin, candies floss, fizzy drinks, shaved ice with syrups and diabetes were rare. Salt added to Pepsi or Coke was remedy for fever.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets.
As children, we would ride with our parents on bicycles/ motorcycles for 2 or 3. Richer ones in cars with no seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a private taxi was a special treat.
We drank water from the tap and NOT from a bottle.
We would spend hours on the fields under bright sunlight flying our kites, without worrying about the UV ray which never seem to affect us.
We go to jungle to catch spiders without worries of Aedes mosquitoes.
With mere 5 pebbles (stones) would be a endless game. With a ball (tennis ball best) we boys would ran like crazy for hours.
We catch guppy in drains / canals and when it rain we swim there.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually worry about being unhygenic.

We ate salty, very sweet & oily food, candies, bread and real butter and drank very sweet soft sweet coffee/ tea, ice kacang, but we weren't overweight because.......
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, till streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. AND WE DONT HAVE HANDPHONES TO BUG US. And we were O.K. AND WE ARE SAFE.
We would spend hours repairing our old bicycles and wooden scooters out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem .
We did not have Playstations, X-boxes, Nintendo's, multiple channels on cable TV, DVD movies, no surround sound, no phones, no personal computers, no Internet. WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and we still continued the stunts.
We never had birthdays parties till we were 21
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and just yelled for them!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
Yet this generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!
The past 40 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
And YOU are one of them!
CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the government regulated our lives for our own good.
And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.

Birthday party....

I celebrated my 34th birthday early, earlier by two weeks as one week before it would be Father's day and on the week itself, I would have had to compete with both my stepdaughter and my niece (who shares the same birthday as me!!!)
We rented a place at the Kemensah Chalet and Waterfall area. a very nice out of the norm getaway which was not too far from where we stay -strategic location.
It was pretty in a way with lovely chalets one can book for the day (RM30) or even overnight should you choose to stay overnight.
My daughter loved the pool where we had a pretty waterfall and unlike other waterfalls, this waterfall was pretty safe and not deep at all... it only came up to waist lenght!!!
My nephews, nieces and daughter practically became waterbabie/mermaid and refused to come out of the water - come t think about it, even my sister-in-law's maid!!! She was suppose to keep an eye on the kids and she also stayed in the water for hours!!!We had a great selection of food, mostly local, Pulut Kuning, Rendang Chicken, Kueh Seri Muka, Bingka Ubi, Fried Bee Hoon, salad with thousand island sauce, barbecue chicken, sausages, roast chicken, chiffon cake and also donuts and ohh... lots and lots of ground nuts and snacks.
Here are some pics..... not in any order as the uplading is slightly still confusing to me...

Addicted to Superpoke Pets

Not sure if all or even any of you have heard of SuperPoke Pets... they are extremely adorable and so addictive. But well, it can be free... but you spend a lot of time online because of them, shopping for habitats, toys, plushies, items.. decorating their habitats to your heart's desire...

I got invited and saw my daughter's profile there and out of curiousity I joined and one thing led to another and now I am addicted..

Where did you say the SuperPoke Pets anonymous are??? I definitely need to get myself admitted. LOL Thursdays are wild as everyone waits impatiently for new releases. New stuff, new habitats and so on and everyone is clamouring for more of old stuff!!!

Whomever who started it is brilliant!!! It's a money maker for sure!!!

Anyway, hmmm... there's the forum for those who are interested in swapping, begging, trading, or the more generous souls or people who got tired of some of their things and want to just 'gift' it away...

It's a whole new world where the world revolves around getting the best or decorating your beloved pet kitty, monkey, panda, dragon, turtle, frog or penguin so they look their best and earn compliments.. Besides that, they have levels where each new levels bring free gifts and superiority.

You can also find lots of nice people and new friends...

There are also a lot of bickering, bitching, draa and selfishness and sometimes drama runs high especially when some people cannot get what they want and are frustrated and annoyed at someone else
But well..... it's fun.... now.. back to my pet... Ooh Ahh.....

Sow what you plant....

A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business.
Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together.
He said, 'It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you. 'The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued. 'I am going to give each one of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO.'
One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.
Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew.
Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing.
By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like a failure.
Six months went by -- still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however.
He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the seed to grow.
A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection.
Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful -- in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!
When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives.
Jim just tried to hide in the back. 'My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown,' said the CEO. 'Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!'
All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the Financial Director to bring him to the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, 'The CEO knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!'
When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed - Jim told him the story.
The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, 'Behold your next Chief Executive Officer!
His name is Jim!' Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow
his seed.
'How could he be the new CEO?' the others said.
Then the CEO said, 'One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow.
All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new Chief Executive Officer!'
* If you plant honesty, you will reap trust
* If you plant goodness, you will reap friends
* If you plant humility, you will reap greatness
* If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment
* If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective
* If you plant hard work, you will reap success
* If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation
* If you plant faith in GOD, you will reap a harvest
So, be careful what you plant now;
it will determine what you will reap later.
