Racial differences...
I am not a racist and this is not a post of racism or is it meant to offend anyone... it's just something I've been observing...
I might be wrong (do forgive me and correct me if I am), but I read it somewhere before and thus, putting in my point of view as well...
Ok.. from my observations and also from what I've read somewhere before... when it comes to food and illnesses, it would seem that the highest cancer rate patients according to race would be Chinese... because of their fondest of preserved foods. Sour plums, preserved vegetable, preserved sausages, preserved fruits, etc... The Malays would mostly suffer from cholesterol problems... because of their fondest of rich food... usually, deep fried, or cooked in 'santan' or coconut milk (practically most of the malay dishes includes cooking with 'santan' or being fried... and the Indians would be the one with diabetes problems... because of their fondest of sugary food... ( teh tarik with lots of condensed milk, candy with lots of sugar or condensed milk and so on.... )
Then when it comes to teenage and youth social problems... the Malays are extremely fond of surfing porn, or just doing nothing/hanging out (lepakking) , doing drugs, errr... being in love/making love .... whilst the Chinese are fond of gambling, getting drunk, smoking and the Indians... fighting and getting drunk.... (I think it was in the Star Newspaper a few days ago...- something like that)
Hmmmmm..... why is it thus... Opinions people???

Daddy-cated to my husband...

I won, I won.... I won a consolation prize in the Tissot/Star father's day contest... and it was a lovely Tissot Watch...
Now the thing is, I do not have such a wonderful dad who inspires me, as my own father couldn't care less about me and never even sent a birthday card or inquire if I was ok, dead or alive..... but my husband did and whatever I wrote in the slogan, it was definitely dedicated to my husband who has given me the inspiration and trust that not all men are like my father , who upon divorcing my mother, choose to divorce his daughter as well. He did not care about me at all.
From the time he walked out on my mother and me when I was but three, he never bothered calling me, wishing me happy birthday, or even asked if I was alive. For all he knew, I could have been dead and buried and he never cared. That was the man who married my mother and fathered me.
My husband on the other hand showed me how dedicated, self sacrificing and loving a father can be to his own children and even his step children (my kids)
He would give his all for them, and probably, even lay down his life for them if need be. He is the sort who will give his last penny or ringgit to his children , irregardless of how hard life can be at times, for himself. Sometimes, I have to admit it does annoy me and make me envious but then again, I look deeper inside me and know I can never begrudge the kids this wonderful man. I am thankful and happy for our children that this wonderful man is their dear father/ step-father, and I doubt there can be a more loving father out there then him for them.
My only wish and hope is that his children , and mine can know how to appreciate the sacrifices their dad does for them and will be filial and good children who will always care for him in return until the end...
To my husband, Dzul Rashidi, in case you are reading this, I am so proud of you. You are a wonderful husband and a really marvelous dad to all our kids. Happy Father's Day... every day and I love you..

‘Daddy-cated’ kids
By LIM CHIA YING

TOUCHING, heartwarming and poignant. Such were the love declarations for daddy dearest in the recent Father’s Day contest jointly organised by Star Publications Bhd and Tissot.
The top 16 of the 3,300 entries received were finally selected after a difficult judging process.
They were each rewarded with a watch courtesy of Tissot during a prize presentation ceremony held at the watch brand’s boutique in MidValley Megamall recently.
Tissot brand manager Ian Lee said it was the first time the brand was participating as joint organisers with The Star for its Father’s Day contest.
“Tissot is well known for its men’s watches, which is why we came on board for this contest,” said Lee.
He said the watches which the 16 winners (first, second, third prize and 13 consolation) received today were priced at between RM590 and RM4,500.
“We wanted each of the 16 to have a different watch to showcase our variety of models so that we do not emphasise just one collection,” he added.
Star Publications advertisement sales head Chua Chee Beng said very often, fathers are “underrated” or even forgotten.
“Every year, The Star runs this contest to ‘publicise’ dads,” he said.
He added that the contest would not be successful without Tissot and that the entries were received online and through SMS.
“Though Father’s Day was last month, it is still not too late to present this watch to your dads,” Chua told the recipients.
Numerous participants had written slogans for their fathers who had passed on.
Among the judging criteria for the entries were creativity and genuineness.
Participants had to come up with a winning slogan that started with “I treasure the time with you dad...” in not more than 15 words.
Grand prize winner Melissa Wee, 42, was not present at the ceremony but was represented by her husband.
Her winning slogan read: “I treasure the time with you dad — Laughter you create, Love you generate, You’re ‘The Star’ I emulate, with Tissot, I Daddycate.”
Second prize winner Umadevi Vengdesh said her dad had a tough life when he was young as his family was poor and he was raised by a single parent.
“My father, who is 55 this year, is still actively working on his own.
“He is a disciplinarian but he is soft-hearted and loves us all,” said Umadevi, 31.
Her slogan was “I treasure the time with you dad as the pulse of our journey, that grips the heartbeat of my soul till eternity.”
Third prize winner was Sumitha Renganathan, 36, who was also not present at the ceremony.
The contest ran from June 9 to 22.

Sateh Lilit.... yummmmy... I loved this so much when in Bali...
Recipe: Sateh lilit - Minced Balinese seafood satay
Sateh lilit is traditional Balinese food. This is a very popular dish for Balinese people. It has a strong connection with the traditional ceremonies in Bali. The sateh lilit is commonly made with sea fish.

- 1 tbs Thai green curry paste
- 5 Kaffir lime leaves, finely sliced

Singapore 2010 - Day 2
I barely slept. I awoke as early as 4.30am and watched as my baby slumbered on peacefully. I woke her up at 6 am and we ran downstairs to our hotel, the Tune Hotel to the 7 Eleven there to get some buns, a small box of milk and noodles.
At 7am, we were waiting for our bus. It was however pouring cats and dogs and I got a little worried about the weather. Fortunately, I had brought an umbrella from home.
Got on our Odyssey bus and were on our way. Anne was delighted by the movie channels, and also the video games console found on board the bus. Very much like a plane.
We arrived at our destination, Resort World Sentosa at approximately 8.40am. It was still pouring. We gingerly made our way to the Universal Studio entrance, took some pics and then to the Forum and to the hotels nearby, namely Micheal Hotel and Hard Rock Hotel Sentosa. On the way there, I found the Victoria Secret shop and made a mental note to check it out later.
We were at the front of the queue at 10am when the gates of the Universal Studio opened. I was not surprised to find that Universal Studios was very much like Disneyland with the exception of , there were no Disney characters around, of course…
We had a fun time, trudging into one store after another and one ‘area’ after another… from Hollywood, to Madagascar, to Far, Far Away, to Jurassic Park and Sci -Fi City, and New York… and of course, Waterworld...getting on whatever rides we can and which queue wasn’t more then a half hour’s wait..
Anne had a blast. She took lots of pics with Frankie, errr… Frankenstein…, the Penguin of Madagascar, Marilyn Monroe, Mel Diner’s girls, Kowabunga Kove dancers, Kung Fun Panda…
But her highlight was when Woody Woodpecker came strolling down from New York streets and took her hand and lead her to Hollywood street and took a couple of pics with her, and when Fiona and Shrek called her “Princess”. And on, not forgetting the hugs she got from Puss in Boots and King Julien.
We went to see the ‘live’ action of Waterworld , but Anne was afraid because the baddies came out from the ring and were shooting guns, setting off “bombs” (pyrotechnics), and told me she did not want to see them again, at least until I sat her down to tell her those people were just all acting.
We had lots of fun at Shrek’s 4D show where we got ‘dirty’ getting sneezed by Donkey and also had paint “splashed” on us from Gingy’s painting his gingerbread house… and not to mention a bone jarring ride with Shrek and Fiona…. And arrghhhh….. “Spiders”…… on the floor….
Got some souvenirs for Anne and hubby, but couldn’t decide on what to get for myself and so ended up getting none, except for a couple of postcards and a key chain with a baby “Alex” the lion on it…and of course Universal Studios Singapore…
Got outside for a bit, checked out Hershey’s store and ended up buying a bag of Garretts Caramel Crisp popcorn for an exhorbitant price of 7 Sing dollars, but it was delicious, but a mite too sweet and worth it, I guess..
A walk back to the Victoria Secret shop satisfied my curiosity and also disappointed me as they only stocked up on selected items and most of it were the higher end panties… and not so my favourite scents… and that definitely costed more then the USA store or even Ebay… so I did not get anything….
Before we left Resort World Sentosa, took Anne to see the fame Singapore Merlion… then we were headed back to our hotel and also ready to go home to the boring, tiring and stressful reality….
