Burlesque pictures

Burlesque

Ali is a small-town girl with a big voice who escapes hardship and an uncertain future to follow her dreams to LA. After stumbling upon The Burlesque Lounge, a majestic but ailing theater that is home to an inspired musical revue, Ali lands a job as a cocktail waitress. Burlesque's outrageous costumes and bold choreography enrapture the young ingenue, who vows to perform there one day. Soon enough, Ali makes her way from the bar to the stage. Her spectacular voice restores The Burlesque Lounge to its former glory, although not before a charismatic entrepreneur arrives with an enticing proposal.

A woman's (me) point of view on women..

Ok before I start this, this is NOT to insult my fellow female friends.. It's just my point of view on the fairer sex in general, and what I've experienced and so on. I suppose I am not going to earn much brownie points from my fellow ladies in particular, but hey... this is my blog and my thoughts..
Before we go any further, let's get some things straight. I am a Muslim(I used to be a Christian from childhood until 19), but am an open minded woman. I am a wife, a daughter and a mother. I am reasonably quite well read (read thousands of books, or at least an average of 3-4 books a week) and reasonably well- travelled( been here and there a bit, maybe not as much as I would love ) and what I'm 'scribbling'. Or typing here is just my take on general stuff and so on. No insults meant to anyone at all.
Ok.. According to a book I read back in the past 4-5 years ago, women were more or less categorized in 2. Angelic/ martyr or sluts. This was supposedly to be stemmed from their 'mothers' which is actually Eve, the first woman on earth or Lillith, the female demon who was actually Adam's first consort in the beginning, before Eve was created from Adam's ribs. (Ok,ok, to the Christians and Muslims, you're probably saying I'm blasphemous or something like that). I read that in a book entitled "Lillith" I remember, which my adopted sister bought from Kinokuniya and loan me.
Lillith was supposedly seductive and sly and she was power hungry. After Eve was created, she went and became the devil's consort and gave birth to thousands of demons.
Eve however was supposedly the exact opposite, thus the ideal mate for Adam back then.
Anyway, women in general have both Lillith and Eve's qualities, only some have more of Lillith's qualities, thus making them more nymphomaniac, power hungry and such.. And vice versa, making them shy, introverts..
Looking at some women around me, which are my own family members and friends makes me shake my head with disbelief at times.
They come in so many sizes, and so much 'drama' to make your head spin..
There are attention seekers, jealous biddies, low self esteemers, drama queens (from the very young to the very old), conclusion jumpers, etc..etc..
My mom could not understand me, because I allow my husband the freedom to mingle around with whomever he likes, be it men or women, and because I allow my husband to maintain a very close relationship with his ex wife and ex girl friends. She always ask me if I was not afraid my husband would return to his ex wife or so? I always just smile and shrug it off.
Well, I like to think I am matured and that since I love and trust my husband enough to marry him, surely I can trust him to do the right thing for all of us and that I trust him with what he does. Many women can't seem to trust their own husbands. Granted, many husbands are also unfaithfully untrustworthy..or is it untrustworthy unfaithfully.. Hehe..
Anyway here are some categories... There could be more but these are what comes to mind at present time...

The insecure and suspicious biddies: Many women seem to have issues with other women. Heck. I have been accused or at least viewed in suspicion by a couple of my client wives .. And all over a few innocuous smses I send their husbands.
One funny case was because I sent a client a eid mubarak or Hari Raya greeting which usually asks for forgiveness of any wrong doings, or said words. I did not send it to only him, but to countless other clients, both female and male when I got a phone call from this lady asking me what have I been doing with her husband that I have to be asking for forgiveness.
I assured her nothing was going on between her husband and me and that I was married and allowed her to speak to my husband and she asked him if I was telling the truth and if he was really my husband.. Hmmmppphh..

Then we have the peacocks: These women, myself included (according to my husband, though I beg to differ) are the ladies or women who love to tell others about their achievements, you'd probably here such sentences like, " Woo, my husband and I are going to Paris for two weeks, and we'll be staying at the Ritz Carlton" or " I'm thinking of buying the Porsche Carrera or should I get a BWM 5 series.." or "Dinner with Datuk/ Lord so and so at Hilton" or "I bought that dress the other day for 30K".. Ok.. I am not really to that level, but I guess I have to admit I am half a peacock.. LOL..

Then there are the sluts: these women can be married or single but will still prowl around flirting and scoring with any men who catches their sight and who gives them the attention they desire. They are not opposed to trying to ruin someone else's marriage or relationship. However, please note that NOT all 2nd wives are sluts, some just have the misfortune to be wined, dined and seduced before realizing their partner all this while was already married and someone's husband.

The martyrs: These women let themselves be stepped on most of the time. They will overlook insults, criticism and so on. They can even overlook their husband having an affair or let their partners or husband beat them up for no good reasons.

I am sure there are many more types but for now, they slip my mind. Once I can think of some more I will blog more.. So for now.. Signing off...

Yours truly....

Kejora and Bintang..

(... Continuing...)
Kejora missed seeing her father or meeting him..
Just as Erlangga was irresistably drawn to Kejora's sincerity and kindness, he caught Janet burning pictures of Kejora and her and Janet pretended to tell him that Kejora was in reality a very sly and evil person. She was rich and pretended to be poor and that she threatened Janet and so on. (I know it sounds far fetched, but that's the way the story seems to go)
Anyway Erlangga's concience thinks that Kejora was kind and good to Nenek and so on, even if he refused to admit it to himself and still maintain his sarcastic self.
Meanwhile, Bintang was again kidnapped by Hanifah and Janet and locked in one of the bedrooms. Just then Pak Rian happened to found out where Hanifah and Janet was and paid them a visit. He heard Bintang banging on the door and crying for help but Janet quickly pulled her into a cupboard and turned on the radio, so a quick thinking Hanifah told her husband he was just imagining things and quickly chased him out of the house, threatening to call the police on him.
Rian went back to his working place, and when he saw some cops around, began to panic and mumbled some excuses to Fitra who was baffled at his strange and suspicious behavior.
Nenek Gautama sent Erlangga for another business deal but he stumbled upon Minah who was picking up a big portrait picture of her boss, and the portrait enthralled Erlangga. He ran after Minah as the woman in the portrait was actually his mother, who had ran away and left him all these years after hitting Kejora and Bintang's mother with their car.
In the process, he dropped the food sample he was suppose to pass to the client and went back to the office to find his grandmother angry and disappointed.
Nenek Gautama then called a meeting and in front of all the shareholders, directors and both Erlangga and Kejora, she announced that she would be leaving the whole company to Kejora, who was shocked to the core, as Kejora had thought Nenek was only supposedly pretending to do so to teach Erlangga to be more humble, patient and dedicated to his company.
On hearing that Kejora was now the unofficial boss of the company, Hanifah pretended to mend fences with her, asking her for forgiveness and also inviting her back to the house. Then she told Kejora to give back the company to Erlanggan so Janet can be happy which aroused kejora's suspicions. At the same time Minah came by the restaurant and saw Hanifah and approached them.
Hanifah pretended not to acknowledge Minah, making Minah confused and in her attempt to remind Hanifah who she was, Minah blurted out that she was the one who helped Hanifah to keep Bintang away from Kejora.
In a fit of anger, Kejora announced to her step mother that she was accepting the company from Nenek and if need be, she would rather snatch control of the company rather then to let the company fall into Hanifah and Janet's clutches, not realising Janet was recording what she was saying on her mobile phone.
Janet took that recording, edited it and took it to Erlangga to prove her point that Kejora was a sly greedy person and Erlangga was even more convinced. However he refused to give the tape recording to Nenek Gautama citing Nenek's weak heart and swore instead to work hard to get his rightful inheritance back, much to Janet's frustration.
Nenek agreed to give Erlangga another chance seeing his passionate appeal and sent Kejora and Erlangga off to work together on an abandoned restaurant out of town.
Bintang having gotten away from Hanifah and Janet, whilst looking for Kejora was hit by Anantha's driver and fell unconcious on the spot, so the driver, having recognized her, picked her up and drove her back to Anantha's house right into Minah's clutches.
Meantime, Kejora and Erlangga were driving out to some remote area to research some menu and details for the restaurant they we're put in charge of when an argument put Erlangga out of control of the car and they crashed into a ravine, but not before Erlangga manage to push Kejora out of the car and jumped out of the car himself. He came to to find Kejora knocked out, and carried her safely to the side of a road, trying to rouse her from her unconciousness and also get help.
Minah gleefully informed Hanifah and was told to get Bintang out of Jakarta. She managed to smuggle Bintang away to an isolated village but Bintang manage to get escape after feeling that something had befallen Kejora.. She hitch a ride with a small lorry heading to town, and was convinced Kejora was somewhere near by, because of her flashes, but when she saw Erlangga flagging down the lorry, she panicked as she remembered seeing Erlangga with Janet before and feared Erlangga was out to get her too. So the lorry sped by, much to Erlangga's frustration and Bintang's relief. But again, Bintang missed seeing her sister.
Just then Kejora regained her conciousness to Erlangga's relief and he hugged her.
Nenek, unsure of what to do after a short cryptic phone call from Erlangga, called Janet and made her go look for Fitra in the hope he could assist them in knowing where Kejora and Erlangga's location.
Janet wanted to refuse but was threatened with getting sacked, so unwillingly she went to search for Fitra only to come face to face with her stepfather, Rian. She insulted him and he raised his hand as if to strike her when Fitra passed by, baffled at his normally quiet employee's behavior again.
Caught in action, both Rian and Janet just denied any connection and janet added that Rian was just rude to her.... (To be continued... )

Nasi Uduk complit at Esteler 77

I tried this dish once before when I was staying at the Johor Bahru Tune hotel and I liked it. So it was to my pleasure when I came across this Indonesian restaurant again here in KL, next to Central Market where the old McDonald used to be.
Despite promising myself that I would be seriously rationing my rice intake, I could not resist ordering the nasi uduk which is technically the Indonesian version of our Nasi Lemak. Ioved the sambal and it was not enough. I had to request for more . Only one tinny complain though, errrmmm.. The sambal was too mild and not spicy at all, as compared to some Ayam penyet spicy sambal, I have tasted, which can really bring tears to your eyes (both from the delicious taste and also for the extremely spicy taste)..

A dish I whipped up..

Hmm.. at present moment I don't know what to call this dish of mine. However, it is made from turnips (sengkuang), carrots, onions, garlic, shitake mushrooms and prawns. You can add some dried cuttle fish strips if desired.
It can be eaten just like this, or made into 'popia' or spring roll filling or 'pie tee' or top hat filling with a bit of sambal belacan..
I've already mentioned the ingredients.. But here goes again..

1/2 a turnip peeled and cut finely in strips
1 carrot peeled and cut finely in strips (alternatively, like lazy me, I just use a grater)
Dried Shitake mushrooms (a handful)- soaked
Dried cuttlefish strips (a handful/ optional) soaked
1 medium sized onion, sliced finely
3- 4 cloves of garlic, chopped finely
A teaspoon of chicken stock powder
A tablespoon of oyster sauce
Half a handful of small shrimps
1/2 cup water

Method:-
Heat wok with about 2-3 tablespoon oil, then add in onions and garlic. Stir fry until fragrant. Add shrimps, stir for about 2 mins. Add the chicken stock powder and 1/2 cup watern and the oyster sauce. Stir fry until even and fragrant. Add cuttlefish strips( if any) , and the soaked shitake mushrooms. Then add in the turnip and carrots. Stir until everything is evenly mixed and serve hot. Sprinkle and garnish with some fried shallots and chilli if preferred.
If preferred can be served with sambal belacan and salad lettuce.

My daughters love this dish a lot and can eat it just like that. So come experiment and enjoy.. :-p

Trainer chopsticks

Yesterday, my husband and me got our youngest daughter her first chopsticks.. Or actually trainer chopsticks. It was pretty cute, being green in colour with a tortoise on top of the chopsticks.
She was excited about it.
This morning, I bought a packet of mee hoon goreng or fried rice noodles and she had the opportunity to eat using her 'chopsticks'.
She ate the whole packet using her 'chopsticks' and enjoyed herself!!!

Happy birthday to my dearest husband..

Time flies. And what seems, within a short period of time turns out to be a hefty 8 years. We have known each other for about 9 years and have been married for almost 8 years now.
Through ups and downs, sickness and health, for richer and poorer, in good times and bad, we've weathered many storms and enjoyed many sunshines.
You've been a most wonderful husband and father to yours and our kids/stepfather to my kids. Understanding, caring, generous to a fault, self sacrificing, never stopping me from my dreams and little adventures, yet being there for me when I need comfort and someone to depend on.
Thanks for everything.. Love you always...............
