Home cooked - pan grilled salmon with broccolli and salad

I decided to try my hand at making my own pan grilled salmon but.. I do not own a grilling pan and I never actually cooked salmon before.

Anyway, I bought two slices of salmon fish from Giant for about RM12.00

Then some mixed salad and broccoli.

Perfecto potato crisp

Out of curiosity, I got this canister of Perfecto potato crisp in Sour Cream and Chives flavour.
It was yummy and as the tagline went... "Freshly garnished on every crisp" , I surely tasted the sour cream and chives on each crisp.

Ultimate selfie of the day!!!

Selfie of the day!!!!

Bad rumours

People always have something bad to say about you irregardless of what you do.

I really do not understand why they cannot stop judging others and start to measure their own selves before condemning others of this and that.

I have long since learned to ignore what people have to say about me, if any, although it does hurt sometimes but well, let it slide into one ear and out or just pretend you don't know anything.

Recipe :Mua Chee

Mua chee is a Malaysian-Chinese snack supposey originated from Penang, but some people say it originate in China.

Mua chee is made with small lumps of glutinous rice dough coated with a grounded peanut sugar mixture, soft and chewy kind of like the Japanese Mochi except unlike the Japanese Mocho that comes in a variety of flavours in the centre.. The flavours for Mua Chee is just the grounded peanut sugar coating.

Mua chee is not too hard to make. Best eaten within few hours at room temperature, if keep in the fridge the dough texture will turn hard.

Ingredients:
dough batter:
200g glutinous rice or sticky rice flour
1 tsp of sugar
Pinch of salt
250 ml water
2 tbsp cooking oil
150g roasted peanuts (grounded)
75g sugar

Mix the glutinous rice flour, water and oil in a microwavable bowl and microwave for 3 - 4 minutes. The outcome is a sticky white paste.

Pour the roasted peanut/sugar mix into another bowl. Cut the sticky paste into small cubes and coat them with the mix..

Happy trying!!!

That HGC box on my shelf..

I won this box of HGC by V-Gen from one of the local magazines three or four  months back but left it sitting on my shelf. I wasn't sure what it was going to taste like. And I wasn't sure if I was going to like it.

Now, seriously, I do have skin and hair problems. My skin can be quite dry and I have no one to blame but myself for being lazy to slather on lotions. So from time to time, I do feel a bit of itchiness on my calves and arms. And my hair? It has seem dropping drastically these few weeks due to lots of stress.

Caring for Miss Muezza and Mr Beebo

Muezza is my female cat and Beebo is my male cat.. Her brother/partner in crime/companion for life.
I have them for 1 1/2 years already. They are my fur kids, close to my heart. I had both of them neutered so there won't be any accidents and additional kitties etc..
They living in a big 3 storey cat condo my husband bought them and are et out to run around my house 2-3 hours, once or twice a day.
Food wise, they consume dry cat food. Originally I started with the very expensive ones like Science Plan, Royal Canin and so on but now due to budget and seeing not any difference, they consume the normal brands like Whiskas and Smart Heart.
As for cat litter, I started with clay and crystal and got fed up until I discovered pine pellets. This one is my favourite and am soooo sticking to this as before this there was just so much tracking marks and mess all over but with pine pellets, I discover savings, less odour and no tracking.
I choose the brand Fido. This can be bought in any Petsmore shops for just about RM28. When you pour the pellets out. There is that refreshing pine smell that so reminds me of IKEA.
Just put a little in there and once the cats pee or poop then the pellets will disintegrate and expand.
Definitely my favourite...
That is for now, my two cents worth and ...just a little about my kitties....

Yun Nam hair care visit

I have been pretty stressed lately from a lot of things including Hubby's health and all.

And as a result of that. My hair have been falling out more drastically then normal. So much that I am worried.

So out of curiosity I contacted Yun Nam via a newspaper advertisement and they invited me to come for an assessment and free treatment.

I went to the Yun Nam centre at the  Mid Valley boulevard. They took my details and I was asked to wait until my consultant came to my assistance.

I was taken to a consultation room where they scanned my scalp. According to the consultant, I had very oily scalp, oil seeds and dandruff (results from some hyperactive skin cells etc)

Then I was brought to the first floor for treatment. The treatment was supposedly worth RM580!!!

She washed my hair with some herbal shampoo and sprayed a few tonic and such while shampooing then only was my hair rinsed and treatment applied.

Since the base of the shampoo and treatment were all of herbal base, there was a very strong smell of medicinal herbs.

The treatment was left with a mask on top for almost an hour. There was a cool and tingling feeling while waiting. Then the consultant rinsed the treatment off and applied some Jasmine conditioner.

Then blew dry my hair.

Once done I was taken to the consultation room again to rescan my scalp condition which was considerably much better then before..

Then came the sales pitch. I was recommended to undergo the full package of at least 10 treatments in about 3 months. All of that would cost my something like RM 4000++. When I mention it was out of my budget, then I was offered another package that costed RM 2000++. And when I declined, I was offered a very basic package of RM988.

I did not sign up for any of the packages as I felt it was too over inflatedly priced and I did not have that much money to spare..

So I was asked to sign the form and given a small pouch and samples of the shampoo, conditioner and tonic (I think).

That was the end of my visit. It was enlightening and well interesting...

MH192 safely lands back at KLIA

Passengers on board Malaysian Airlines Flight MH192 had a four hour nail biting trip after the landing gear was found to be giving problems shortly just after take off, forcing the plane to turn back and make several attempts at an emergency landing.

The plane finally successfully made an emergency landing at about 2am with 159 passengers and 7 crew members on board.

Flight MH192 departed at 10.09pm for Bangalore last night. The Boeing 737-800 aircraft was supposed to have arrived at 2.35am (Malaysian time) today.

MAS said the right main landing tyre of the plane had burst during take off in a press release after the plane had landed.

"The pilot was alerted by the KL Air Traffic Control that tyre debris were found on the runway and immediately contacted Malaysia Airlines Operations Control Centre (OCC) at 10:25pm.

As safety is of utmost priority to Malaysia Airlines, the aircraft was required to turn back to KLIA," said MAS.

The passengers have been arranged to put up for the night in nearby hotels.

MH192 is retimed to depart KLIA at 3.30pm on 21 April 2014 and arrive Bangalore at 5.00pm the same day (8pm Malaysia time).

According to FlightRadar24, MH192 then flew in circles off the coast of Port Klang to finish it's fuel.

According to Boeing’s specifications, the 737-800 is not able of dumping fuel in mid-air, so it had to burn off its fuel until the aircraft reached an acceptable weight to land safely.

After about thirty minutes, the plane flew towards Port Dickson, and attempted to make an approach on the runway, but ended up making a low pass over it.

MH192 then went back to Port Klang area and began to fly in circles again from about 11.25pm until 1.22am, before trying a second approach on the runway but took off again without landing.

"Malaysian 192, can you confirm to land or another flight path?" the air traffic control (ATC) tower radioed, which was live-streamed.

"Err… Turn left, turn left, turn left. Low," MH192 replied.

"Malaysian 192, roger that."

'Mayday, mayday, mayday'

As the aircraft made its series of left turns that would take it near Port Dickson for the third landing approach, MH192 radioed to check on preparations for a potential emergency.

ATC: "Malaysian 192, we have just received a message. They have already foaming the runway for you."

MH192: "How long do they need?"

ATC: "We'll advise."

MH192: "Alright, understood. Now it is mayday, mayday, mayday. We are landing, low fuel."

ATC: "Malaysian 192, roger mayday."

The pilot sounded calm and composed - even as he made the mayday call.

Two minutes later, MH192 began a slow left turn and then made its final, successful, landing approach. There are no reports of any injuries.

"Malaysia Airlines flight MH192 that made an air turn back towards KLIA has landed safely at 1:56am. Alhamdulillah (thank God)," MAS tweeted at its official Tweeter account.

Note: Kudos to the captain of the flight here. He is certainly a hero, composed and brave and safely brought everyone back to safety.

Four Leaves Bakery

The Four Leaves bakery here at Sogo  is one of my favourite bakeries around KL.
I especially love their butter sugar raising bread,  cream puffs and other pastries.
My husband loves the chocolate walnut danish.
The sight of freshly baked bread and buns are truly fascinating and tempting. And if you are here at the bakery around noon time,  you can see a crowd of people at the bakery.
Next time you are in Sogo here along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman,  Kuala Lumpur,  be sure to check it out... it is located at the lower ground floor next to the Supermarket

Uniqlo children's tops

Took my little girl to Uniqlo in Sogo .. there are quite a number of nice tops ranging from just RM 12.90 to RM29.90 for the kids tops.  You get nice  cartoon characters too like Snoopy,  Monster Inc, Moomin, Hello Kitty and so on.
My daughter got herself a top for RM12.90 and a camisole on sale for just RM9.90

Painful love

So it's true, when all is said and done, grief is the price we pay for love -E.A. Bucchianeri

Love is a painful emotion.

People think Love hurts only when it is one sided. Yes I agree love hurts when it is one sided but love also hurts when you are together and in love with one another.... how?

The more you love the more painful it is.

Yeah I agree.  All is wonderful if the one you love loves you back, you might say, but I am speaking from that point as well.

When the person you over is unwell,  you stress over them.

When the person you love is doing something you deem or think is dangerous or harmful (and they think they can do it ok).. it probably stresses you out more then it does them. They probably don't even break out a sweat while you age 10 years in just a matter of hours.

When the person you love betrays you..  and when I mean betray..  there is must so many ways to betray someone..  not just by having an affair with someone else.  It hurts.

When the person asks you to butt out of worrying for them..  that hurts too.

When you just can't help worrying and stressing.  It affects  your mental health more then the other person who probably think you are just overreacting.

When you mean well and get snapped at for just  that.  That really hurts too.

So that's the conclusion.  The more you love,  the more it hurts.

Think about it

The above is derived from both personal experience and what I see on TV and real life.  On loving your spouse,  your kids,  your parents etc...

An idyllic stay at Perhentian Island Resort

The Perhentian Island Resort comes with a private beach and a lovely outdoor pool .

Perhentian Island Resort is located on Pulau Perhentian Besar , a 20-minute speedboat ride from Kuala Besut Jetty( depending on the waves and sea condition though- and the ride can be pretty bumpy on a choppy sea) and offers comfortable accommodation. It also provides free Wi-Fi to all guests throughout their stay.

It is supposedly one of the best resorts in Perhentian Island and located at Teluk Pauh Beach, famous beach with their white powdery white sandy beach and a great spot for snorkeling trip. It comes with its own Dive Shop and you can snorkel in the shallow waters just in front the resort which was what I did...

Too busy for a friend?

One day a teacher asked her students to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name.

Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down.

It took the remainder of the class period to finish their assignment, and as the students left the room, each one handed in the papers.

That Saturday, the teacher wrote down the name of each student on a separate sheet of paper, and listed what everyone else had said about that individual.

On Monday she gave each student his or her list. Before long, the entire class was smiling. 'Really?' she heard whispered. 'I never knew that I meant anything to anyone!' and, 'I didn't know others liked me so much,' were most of the comments.

No one ever mentioned those papers in class again. She never knew if they discussed them after class or with their parents, but it didn't matter. The exercise had accomplished its purpose. The students were happy with themselves and one another. That group of students moved on.

Several years later, one of the students was killed in Vietnam and his teacher attended the funeral of that special student. She had never seen a serviceman in a military coffin before. He looked so handsome, so mature.

The church was packed with his friends. One by one those who loved him took a last walk by the coffin. The teacher was the last one to bless the coffin.

As she stood there, one of the soldiers who acted as pallbearer came up to her. 'Were you Mark's math teacher?' he asked. She nodded: 'yes.' Then he said: 'Mark talked about you a lot.'

After the funeral, most of Mark's former classmates went together to a luncheon. Mark's mother and father were there, obviously waiting to speak with his teacher.

'We want to show you something,' his father said, taking a wallet out of his pocket 'They found this on Mark when he was killed. We thought you might recognize it.'

Opening the billfold, he carefully removed two worn pieces of notebook paper that had obviously been taped, folded and refolded many times. The teacher knew without looking that the papers were the ones on which she had listed all the good things each of Mark's classmates had said about him.

'Thank you so much for doing that,' Mark's mother said. 'As you can see, Mark treasured it.'

All of Mark's former classmates started to gather around. Charlie smiled rather sheepishly and said, 'I still have my list. It's in the top drawer of my desk at home.'

Chuck's wife said, 'Chuck asked me to put his in our wedding album.'

'I have mine t oo,' Marilyn said. 'It's in my diary'

Then Vicki, another classmate, reached into her pocketbook, took out her wallet and showed her worn and frazzled list to the group. 'I carry this with me at all times,' Vicki said and without batting an eyelash, she continued: 'I think we all saved our lists'

That's when the teacher finally sat down and cried. She cried for Mark and for all his friends who would never see him again.

The density of people in society is so thick that we forget that life will end one day. And we don't know when that one day will be.

So please, tell the people you love and care for, that they are special and important. Tell them, before it is too late.

Remember, you reap what you sow. What you put into the lives of others comes back into your own.

Kisah Penjual Laksa....

SEMOGA CERITA INI MEMBERI KESEDARAN KEPADA KITA...

Suatu hari sedang saya membersihkan halaman, lalu seorang penjual laksa beras, menaiki motorsikal mengelilingi kampung.

Walaupun sikit, kita wajar berbagi sama.

MasyaAllah, begitu jelas sekali fikirannya tentang maksud mampu.

School carnival

My little girl's school had a school carnival today.

Two to three days prior to that, she had already asked her father for money to buy some school coupons.

Since my little girl was insistant we had to go, we went to school this morning.

They had a small telematch too for the kids even a paintball thingie.

There was a bouncy castle and slide. A bouncy pool with inflatable rafts, a haunted house (which happened to be my daughter's classroom) , horse rides, a petting zoo and of course... food etc..

We bought another 2 set of coupons bringing the total to RM30.

We bought some nasi lemak for RM2, spaghetti for RM4, fried bee hoon for RM4, soft drinks for RM3, chocolate dipped biscuits and marshmallows for RM4 and little daughter entered the Haunted House for RM5 and petting zoo for RM4  (x2 with me).

Overall, it was OK.. But I felt for a school carnival it was a bit expensive..

MIHAS -the Halal taste of different countries

Visiting MIHAS is always interesting. I attended as a trade visitor.

The exhibition itself this year at the KL Convention Centre was pretty much a feast for the senses. There were colours everywhere.. Pretty  national costumes for some .. Food ... And the smell of food..

It was fascinating. Let loose in the exhibition hall, some playful souls like me could imagine being a kid clamouring for free food tasting etc.

There were definitely a lot to try. And my favourite was at the Thai Pavilion where not only did I get to witness a live cooking demonstration of my favourite Green Curry Chicken but also be treated to live demonstration of Fruit/food carving.

When it comes to the exhibitors, it was a delight to step from one area to the next.. Thailand, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, China, Taiwan, Brunei, Korea, Japan, South Africa, Chile, Italy and many more...

Check out my humble photos.. But of you can go check it out.. Today's  (12/4/2014) the last day!!! There ought to be great deals and great opportunities depending on the type of visitor you are...

I have followed their Facebook pages.. And these unbearably cute baby animal pictures are taken from the San Diego zoo's page...

They are too cute for me not to share but the credits of the pictures are to the San Diego zoo..

So here you go... Enjoy... Don't forget to sigh and say...   "Awww , so cute..."
